Dove, Cow, Hodgepodge

First of all, I want to thank everyone who joined and commented on Rubbish Tuesday. I was afraid no one would be interested. And a big Thank You to those who helped pass the word.
We have several varieties of Doves here, but this is my favorite and the most rare. I like the color. I've looked in the National Geographic Field Guide to Birds and think this Dove matches the Zenaida Dove. But the book doesn't mention them in this area.

As I was driving down a back road last weekend, I saw this mom and baby up on a hill. They seemed to be enjoying this warm spring day.

1. April 22nd is Earth Day. Are you inspired by nature? In what way?

I grew up on a farm. We didn't have TV, cell phones, or electronic games, so my brother and I spent the days exploring fields, woods, and creeks. When I lived in Dallas, the farm was my favorite vacation spot. To rejuvinate, I required fresh air and quiet not found in a busy city. I would take a book back to my favorite tree and read while listening to the sounds of nature. The perfect holiday.

2. Down to earth, four corners of the earth, move heaven and earth, not have an earthly chance, or salt of the earth...which earthly idiom have you most recently encountered? Explain.

Down to earth. While watching The Voice last night, Hubs described one of the contestants as vain and full of herself and another as kind and 'down to earth'.

3. Share one piece of advice you might give a newly engaged couple.

Be committed. Don't give up after the first argument.

4. When did you last engage someone to perform a job, task, service, home repair, or improvement? On a scale of 1-10 (ten being the best) how would you rate their work and/or your satisfaction with the job or service provided?

Two weeks ago. I had a leak around the chimney.  I would give the repairman a 10 for both work and price.

5. When did you last find yourself engaged in small talk? Are you awkward or an expert or somewhere in between?

Yesterday, at work. It's easy to come up with topics of conversation if I know the person well, but if it is an acquaintance or someone I just met, I have trouble thinking of things to say. Awkward.

6.  What was the last historic place you visited?

The Hermitage in Nashville, TN. The home of President Andrew Jackson.

7. The world would be a better place if we just be kind to one another.

8.  Insert your own random thought here.

Ok, now you got me wondering…. who did Hubs think was full of herself on "the Voice"? And who was "down to earth?" I'm tired of each judge saying how each did "wonderfully" now. It's up to the people voting… we know the judges are ONLY going to say good things. It's a waste of time. I tuned out & then came back 3 minutes before the end to see who got eliminated.

I love the Dove but I was wondering what it was called. Also love Mama cow and baby.

I do like the dove - very subtle colours.

The world would be a better place if we had leadership!

I've visited The Hermitage several times...just love that place! Yes...marriage means commitment to never give up, only give in.

Beautiful Dove capture, Roan.

I am inspired by nature. Today I saw the first buds of spring and a few wild prairie flowers. The Rancher is seeding oats so spring must be near.

A piece of advice I would give a newly engaged couple would be that marriage is the hardest thing I have ever done in my life. Communicate with each other and do your best to let the little things roll off your back.

Hope your week is going good.

and noted your new meme. :)

Beautiful shot of the dove! I think what you've got there is a Mourning Dove. Maybe not common there, but very common here and many other places. The blue eye ring, wing markings, and pink feet say Mourning Dove.

Lovely dove, and I always like seeing happy, healthy cows.

I gave up on The Voice after last season. You never hear of the winners after the show. Seems it's more to promote the judge's careers and other artist's songs. Though it is miles better than AI.

#7 should be inserted in every article and story on the internet and in print.

Glad your meme was a success! I hope to join in sometime. :)

Now it only cows could fly, you'd have two wild birds.

I've had a lot of doves this winter and spring... some ring necked turtledoves that are not supposed to be native, too. Love them!
