A Little Willy and a Lot of Nilly
1. I took a day off work yesterday, Thursday, to take a day trip with JD. I suggested Heron Park. Hubs saw an ad on tv for the state fair. Guess where we went? My opinion—you've seen one fair, you've seen them all. But I let him make the final decision. After all, the whole point was to spend the day together and I do enjoy seeing the horses.
2. The problem with having a pup that gets car sick is not being able to take him along on day trips. Otherwise I might have been saved from the fair. We could have taken him with us to Heron Park if not for his weak tummy. Since we were going to be gone so long, Fergus got to have an adventure, too. He is experiencing boarding for the first time in his young life. JD wouldn't take him inside, he asked me to do it. I started thinking. Hmm. Wonder why JD doesn't want to drop him off. I think I have it figured out. If Fergus isn't having a good time, he will blame me and not his Pop for his incarceration! JD readily offered to pick him up today, which means Fergus will be eternally grateful to his Pop for rescuing him.
3. Unidentified callers. Lately they are political surveys. I don't answer. Do you? I let the answering machine pick up and yes I do still have one of those.
4. While enjoying a cold drink at the fair, a reporter from the Chicago Sun Times approached us. He asked if he could interview us about the upcoming gubernatorial candidates. I told him I didn't want to be interviewed. JD concurred. My mama always said if you don't have something nice to say, don't say it.
5. It's Friday! I don't have any weekend plans. I'm NOT working. I think I'll go for a ramble in the country looking for old things to post for Rubbish Tuesday.

Have a wonderful weekend searching Roan. Hug B
I would say #2, but instead I'll put it this way...your SECOND random made me smile. There is always an ulterior motive when it comes to men's actions in my opinion. And they think we don't know. HA.
And as for answering machines...I don't answer any calls unless the picture ID comes up. OR...I have special ringtones set up for family and drs. Otherwise, I figure it's telemarketers or as you have...surveys.
I agree if you've seen one fair you've seen them all. Maybe it's because I'm getting old.
I don't answer calls that I don't know who they are from.
Have a fun weekend finding old things to photograph!
hope fergus survived his ordeal. :) enjoy that weekend!!!
What a cool picture. I can sympathize with your second thought here. I used to own a pet sitting business. It was great fun, and meant for situations like Fergus'. If I lived closer, I would love to care for him. He & Stella would have great fun! Hug.
I don't miss those annoying calls on the home phone. Very glad we don't use one anymore, but really, my smart phone is pretty annoying too.
Good decision on the interview..I'm afraid if I opened my mouth, I would not stop talking- especially about politics. Have a great weekend.
I love your picture today! Hey, we are going to the fair today, too!!! JD will be Fergus' hero for life! Yes, we still have a land line. We used to get so many telemarketer calls on it at all times of the day morning and night that after 40 years we finally changed our number. PEACE at last! We have a message machine, too. If I do not recognize the number I won't answer. If it is important enough, they leave a message and I call them right back.
One dog we had, a beautiful English Springer Spaniel LOVED it when we boarded her. In fact, she tried to jump out the window I had partially open for her when we arrived one time because she was so excited, and was hanging by her back hips (somehow she had gotten her front paws through the chain collar!) from the car door. I was laughing so hard, I couldn't get her unhooked! :-)
My hubby was interviewed at least four times by news reporters over the years, and not a single time did the interview air...because he didn't say what they wanted him to!
Have a great week! Tanya is late hooking up Willy Nilly Friday Five but I'm gonna keep checking! :-) Hope all is well with her.
enjoy your weekend off. have a ball driving in the country. free moments are the best.
i have go re-read your part about your doggie. sorry if he is sick / or maybe you said he gets sick if he is in the car while you are driving??! does it matter where he is in the car? i know for some that matters. thankfully i have never gotten car sick. knock on wood. on my brain ... whatever. it could happen someday. hope not. Maybe you will make it to Heron Park someday. At least you got to spend the day away from work and with your husband!
Have fun searching for old stuff.
We have a big fair each fall in Dallas, but I gave them up years ago. Too expensive and a lot of people I did not want to be around. I am with you. I let the answering machine pick up all calls I do recognize. Some have given up and stopped calling. Have a good weekend just doing your thing.
I'm with you regarding fairs, but I would enjoy the horses as well!
Too bad Fegus gets car sick! I hope he grows out of that.
I usually don't answer the phone unless I know who's calling. If it's important, the caller can leave a message and I'll call back.
Great photo.. colorful! We don't have a phone. Still have our landline just no phone hooked up. It is pouring rain here so not the best weather for clicking pictures but I am not complaining about the rain.. we needed it! Enjoy your country photo ramble!
