Rubbish Tuesday #22

Fairview Drive-In first opened in 1953. In 1992 the screen was demolished by a wndstorm, but it was rescreened and remodeled in 2002 and remains open.

It is open April through September. Speakers hanging from the windows are a thing of the past. The sound comes through car radios. This is the sign where the movie titles would be displayed if it were still open. It is now closed for the season.

This is the view from the highway.

This is the view from a side road. Wouldn't want to trespass.

And this is where all that wonderful popcorn is popped and served. The concession stand.

Posting a barn over on Stuff and Nonsense, my other blog, for Amy's Barn Link-up.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will join in the fun.

My idea was to have a place to post 'old things'. Anything old
and/or deteriorating such as, but not limited to, old houses, barns, outbuildings, old cars, rusty things, antiques, interesting junk, or it can be something in pristine condition, but just old.

1. Link to a post featuring photos of something old.
2. Link back to Rubbish by Roan in your post.
3. As time allows, visit other participants and comment on their posts.

East Gwillimbury still has a drive-in theater but I have never been to it, although people from all around go there for the experience. :))

Super that they restored it! We don't have anything like that anymore. I used to love going to the drive-in

Someone in our neck of the woods just opened a drive-in theater a couple years ago. The kids love it!

There is a drive in an hour from us, in NC. I have never been because their movies are always kind of late - past the boys' bedtime. Maybe when they're older.

This brings back memories of the old drive-in theaters when I was a kid. I didn't think there were any left!

Ah...those were the days! I think it is quite sad to see the ones that "used to be". So glad they decided to restore this one!

This is something we rarely ever see. And I am speechless about the sound on the car radio! No more static speakers hanging off the car...

i love these old drive ins...we have 3 (i think) all about an hour from us in different directions. i always plan on going in the summer but it slips away...i figure if we go, we'll get a hotel room and stay the night because who wants to drive home an hour after the movies?!! maybe next summer!

So many of these outdoor theaters are gone now. Nice to see that some are still working.

We have the remains of one here no longer in use. Then across town, one that is still being used. You rarely see them anymore.

Has been a very long time since we have been to an outdoor theatre. I had no idea the sound now came through the radio instead of the window speakers. Great idea!

Thanks for hosting! :)

I haven't been to an outdoor movie theater in forever! That's kind of neat to have the sound come through the radio.

Very neat. My first date with my late husband was at a drive-in. BTW: We did watch the movie. LOL
Passion Pits they were called.

There is one out this way out of Coupeville with a go-kart track too.

If I find an old bird, can I link up? Just kidding! I wish I had something to contribute to your wonderful meme. Looks like it's gaining momentum though.

I remember the crackling speakers at the Drive-In and the fun of watching a movie outside, but sheltered in your car. Fun times!

We used to have a drive-in, but no longer. I'm not even sure where the closest one is now.
