The plaque says This casting of Lincoln's face was made by Clark Mills a few months before Lincoln's assassination. You can see how tired and aged Lincoln has become after the years of conflict. Please touch.
This is Sonny Boy doing as directed and touching Lincoln's head, which shines brightly after all the touching over the years.

Thanks for stopping by. I hope you will join in the fun.
My idea was to have a place to post 'old things'. Anything old
and/or deteriorating such as, but not limited to, old houses, barns, outbuildings, old cars, rusty things, antiques, interesting junk, or it can be something in pristine condition, but just old.
1. Link to a post featuring photos of something old.
2. Link back to Rubbish by Roan in your post.
3. As time allows, visit other participants and comment on their posts.

He really DOES look tired! I like that people are invited to touch.
Halloween post? Have a good week. Tom The Backroads Traveller
I too like the fact that you can touch this piece.Wonderful
That is so cool. It's nice that there's a piece they invite you to touch, that's made better by the touching - which is not the case with most museum artifacts.
Cool and slightly creepy at the same time!
Being from Illinois, we were steeped in Lincoln memorabilia for as long as I can remember. The Lincoln Library and Museum in Springfield is amazing. And I always enjoyed New Salem.
i am laughing because at first i didn't realize you had posted what the plaque in front of it said so i was confused when you said "please touch" lol...it's not often that museums insist you touch something!
I remember seeing a death mask of Napoleon a few years ago and how eerie it all was.
Now, with Lincoln's I'm sure it would be something totally different for me since he's one of my favorite historical icons of our country.
I don't have any 'rubbish' this week, but I did make an entry of memories today.
Have a super week Betty
He does look very tired and care-worn. I would have thought it was a death mask and was surprised to find out it was made before his death. He is special as an indirect ancestor of but also for his important historic contributions. You can't look at that face and not know he was a kind and gentle person.
yeah, too much like touching his skull. no thanks!
Nice to see one can touch it.
Creepy, but neat. I like a hands-on exhibit!
Wow...that's pretty awesome.
poor old lincoln
Yes, tired and worn out.
Would love to visit this museum.
He does look weary and a little sad too.
Somehow I expected President Lincoln's head to be much larger than that. :)
Thanks for hosting!

Interactive art. Thanks for sharing.
Great museum allowing visitors to touch. We are tictile creatures. We understand also with our hands. I guess the sympathy for the president increse also by the younger generation, when seeing and feeling the man who made the US of A to one nation.
All the Presidents age terribly while in office, I think. It is neat that you are encouraged to touch it. Most of the time we aren't allowed to touch, or even take photos.
This is a great post. I love this kind of historical museum. Thanks for sharing.
It's interesting to see his face, to get a little glimpse of him. It is more realistic than a painting.
That is so cool! I would love to rub his head. Wonderful post!
What a haunting sculpture. All the touching makes his head shiny.
The Presidency seems to age everyone that holds the office.
I think the only thing old around here is my cold! :-)
