Identification Help

I'm back for a while anyway. My main problem is time. When I can't find time to return comments, I feel guilty and get mean comments, so I had to stop posting on Rubbish.

But I love posting here, so here I am.

I have a few birds I can't identify. I believe they are juveniles. Any help would be appreciated.
I don't have a guess on this one.
Possibly a House Finch?
Possibly Brown Thrasher?
I believe this one is a juvenile red-headed woodpecker since I see a male almost every time I go to The Rez.

Thanking you in advance.

Hello, What a cute variety of birds. I love the woodie, this one does look like the juvie Redheaded woodie. For me the location of the bird is important for the birds Id's. And I find juveniles to be especially harder than iding the adult. I am sure someone here can help with your birds id's. I can not imagine anyone giving you mean comments. I hope you just ignore these commenters. Have a happy Sunday and new week ahead!

Great birds! Nasty comments...really? I am so surprised that you had that kind of reaction when you didn't have time to post or get back to people. I'm disappointed that that happened. I stay behind in responding to people's comments, about two to three weeks! I always feel guilty but I get to them eventually. Right now I need to take about a five day break from the computer (except for a quick look) so I can finish some sewing projects that have to be done by the end of the month, and I know it's going to put me even farther behind than I am! I love blogging so much, but it turns into a part-time job! :-) I could never take on a meme like you did...it was fun but I do get it. It was good to see you back!

I'm on a break right now due to traveling and grandkids visiting, but I did a quick post yesterday. I'm sorry to hear about the nasty comments. That is just uncalled for! I love all of your bird pics. I wish I could help identify them!

From here in the UK I'm struggling with 1 and 3 but I agree about the Red-headed Woodpecker. Number 2 is a House Finch I think.

I'm viewing from my cellphone...photos are too small to ID...computer modem isn't keeping a connection...when it's fixed...I'll try & remember to return.

PS...okay, I'm online via my cable connection and able to view larger photos...

I'm thinking the 'thrasher' could possibly be a thrush of some kind...the tail is not long enough for a thrasher...their tails are extremely long compared to thrushes, and the markings are similar in both species.

The top one is a sparrow-like. With a prominent eye ring. That should be the identifying trait for ID searching.

And the finch? That too could be any kind of juvenile sparrow...but finch is a good guess.

There is a site you can utilize...a forum...what bird is this? Where you can post the photos and the experts can give you a more correct answer.

And I finally had a rubbish post! :( Sorry to hear about mean comments. I am usually late in getting back to everyone but I usually do.

Hi Ms. Roan,

Nice to see you posting again. So sorry to hear that you have received some mean comments. :-( I don't like to do blog posts when I know I don't have time to return comments, either. But like you, love posting.

Really not able to help with identifying your birds. We have an adult Brown Thrasher that visits our yard on occasion, but I don't recall ever seeing a juvenile, especially full face on like your capture shows. Sure like your first bird, sitting on the old wire fence.

How are Fergus and Findley?

Hope your summer is going well,

Lindy

I'll leave the bird ID's to the experts, some of whom have already commented. I like the pictures and I'm glad you posted them.

I know the feeling about commenting. I am so busy on the farm that I love blogging about, but I can't hardly find time to visit others. Heck, this summer I've barely been able to do my post a day. I can't believe anyone would leave a nasty comment. They obviously have no life off the computer. Glad you're back.

I worried about what had happened to you. Glad you r babk! I am sporadic about getting back to comments ... Sometimes I'm really good and sometimes I'm really late ... You know we all have another life. Except maybe the people who left you mean comments, what the heck was their problem. Horrible Net citizens is what they were.

So I loved this post and half the time I don't know my own birds so I'll leave the ID to Eileen and to Ani and the other experts! Keep postinG and don't let the gremlins get you down.
