On the way down to Bro O's farm where our garden is, we pass this house. It has looked like this for as long as I can remember. It looks like it is painted gray from this shot, but it doesn't have any paint at all. It does have a very good roof. A very nice couple lived there. First he passed away, and then she followed. After that, his brother would drive down from the Peoria area every weekend, in good weather. They stayed in the house. Now he has passed.
It appears someone else has moved in. Probably a relative. There is a red pickup truck parked in the machine shed.
The yard, and it is a very big yard, is always manicured, in sharp contrast to the deteriorating house.
This is Bro O's very old back hoe. It still works and he uses it frequently.
An old log chain.
And I found this old weather vane in the implement shed. Only a farmer would have a tractor weather vane, right? How do you like that fancy dancy door he has put up on his machine shop? It is a leftover from a home rennovation.

Yep, the door is indeed rather fancy for a machine shop. ;) I love the old weather vane. I wonder if the owner plans to place it atop his shop.
Perhaps if the owner is taking care of the grounds, the house will be fixed up too.
Great series .... loved 'em all. That door is indeed quite a spiffy one for the kind of company.
I'll link up tomorrow, I hope.
Oh I love that old house it has a lot of character. We have an OLD backhoe too and yes it gets used a lot:) Spiffy door indeed:) B
I love that charming old house! Beautiful in its simplicity and neatness of the yard. The front porch screen door captures my heart.. I bet it makes the best noise when it slams shut! You have cheered me up this morning with this little house. I am happy somebody is still there loving it! Yes, a fancy door on the machine shop.. :) CH just put a fancy door knob(recycled) on our garage/workshop.. cracks me up! Good Morning!
That is a fancy shop door!
I love what you do with the pumpkins :-)
sweet old house. love the old tractor wind vane!
What an adorable fixer-upper. I would like to get a hold of it and give it some TLC. Maybe the new owners will :)
The old house is wonderful as is the weathervane!
Wonderful series, thank you so much for sharing. I also echo Beth's comment. :)
I love the old house and weathervane! Great series.. Have a happy week!
The door is just beautiful, and I love your photo of the chain.
That weather vane must have shown the right direction for so many years.

That's a great-looking old house and I'd love to see the inside. I would imagine there are many wonderful antiques. :)
Great recycling/repurposing on the machine shop door!

What lovely shots - I like that old house.
That house has a huge amount of charm - I love the faded, weathered look of the wood. Great weather vein too, I hope it gets used again.
This looks like a very interesting place. I love old weather vanes, and have one.
Thanks for sharing these great photos!
THat old weather vane is nice! Can't believe someone would scrap it.
Lots of good old stuff today. You didn't post in vane!

Nice old home. The yard does look nice. One of those yards that kids like to play in. Or rather, kids liked to play in a few decades ago, before technology.
wonderful post!! again!! sorry i missed the link up this week!
If that house was fixed up a bit, that would be a great place! I like the big yard and trees.
I'm a bit behind, and no rubbish, but catching up from our week-long trip!
Several of my blog friends introduced me to you this week. Nice to meet/ visit with you.
The yard of that house is so very pretty. My husband would be interested to see the logging chain.
This is the other meme that I should remember...I could about open my photos and pick blindfolded and would come up with something that would fit this.
I would love to look through that old house...it was someone's pride and joy at one time. I love the weather vane...tractors are good.
