Still a Beauty

My favorite thing to do at the fair is to walk through the horse barns. At one time we owned three horses. One was a quarter horse. He was a lot of work, but worth it.  It isn't often I get to be up close and personal these days, so I took advantage of the opportunity to rub a few velvety noses.
This older lady wasn't competing. She was brought along to keep another horse company.
Her neighbor was a noisy sort.

We've owned horses, too, and they are a lot of work, but enjoyable.

Even horses have their own special way to communicate.

Roan you are talking about what I like to talk about now! The Missouri State Fair is just winding up here. We went early and cruised through the horse barns.. :) Love how somebody took the time to braid the older lady.. ♥

I had a bay....loved it. But the attachment you have with a special horse and then, old age...it is too heart breaking. Well, you understand.

And velvety nuzzle and their greeting neigh...oh sweetness.

What a joy that had to be - for both you and the horses! :)

I got behind in reading blogs again - had copyright issues over at mine. :(

Hope you're having a great weekend!

I also love horses. There is just something about them, such sensitive and intelligent animals. :)

I haven't been to a fair in years, so your photos are nice to see. Love that the older horse is brought along for company.
