Blue Skies and Trains

Mural in downtown Mattoon, Illinois. A mix of old and new.
Linking to Skywatch Friday

I'm terribly behind on visiting and commenting. It has been a long week both work days and evenings. Plus, Wednesday night I had no sleep. Autistic grandson went missing. I've never been so frightened in my life. The police were wonderful. He was found about 3 hours later. Seems he decided to go for a late night jog without telling anyone. He couldn't understand what all the fuss was about.

Have a great day!

First of all, that mural is GORGEOUS! Wow! Secondly, I have a nephew who is autistic, and I could so relate to your scare the other night! I don't think my sister slept for twenty years, more than two hours at a time. She was always his endless mentor, protector, teacher and advocate. She always loved him and cared for him no matter what, even when she didn't think she had anything left to give. He is twenty-one now and lives in a group home and the family sees him often. And though my sister is my hero; the person I admire the most in this world today--I also want to say that Owen was one of our greatest blessings over those years, and continues to be. By the way, my sister and her hubby started the Autism Coalition that later morphed into Autism Speaks (they are on the board, but no longer are in charge) and they do the Wingfoot Autism Challenge Golf Tournament every year to raise money for Autism research...it's going on right now. I am so proud of them. Glad your grandson was found well and safe. It's such a challenge caring for an autistic child, but such a joy.

oh my gosh, what a scare! i'm so glad he was found safe and sound! christian did that to me once right after we moved to missouri. we lived on nearly 200 acres and he wandered off with our dogs. i was frantic, had to call 911 and a woman had just called from a farm that joined our property, he was there with our dogs! phew!
love those murals that show the history! have a great weekend, hope you get a chance to take it easy!

Fabulous mural..all the details are so wonderful! I'm sorry about your scare with grandson. My daughter used to be a sleep walker, and those nights are some of my worst memories. I'm glad he was found, safe and unharmed.
